Privet House

The last few days before an interior design project installation are always stressful. But there are a few stores in our neck of the woods that we like to make the rounds at to look for accessories and any little objects d’art to add that last, but oh so important, finishing touch. One of those places is Privet House in Greenwhich, CT. Privet has been open for about two years and it’s owners, Suzanne Cassano and Richard Lambertson (of Lambertson Truex), have absolutely impeccable taste. Not only is every single piece in the store interesting and highly covetable, but their styling is spot on. Take a look at some of our favorite things in the store right now. Below, a vintage oval box of eggs. We have a serious soft spot for pretty eggs like these–a collection of egg prints hang above the Swedish demilune in our foyer
A pair of Louis XV style chairs displayed stacked one on top of the other. We’re huge fans of painting the insides of bookshelves a color–the black is so chic here.
Suzanne was selling a pair of these 1930′s Italian chairs from the estate of Geoffrey Beene. Isn’t the chair back fantastic? A pair of sculptural chairs like these could bring a foyer or long hallway to life.  Some great glass vessels and small pieces of art…We fell in love with this vintage floor lamp. A pair of 1940′s mustache-back armchairs from France: For us, this Brimfield-found screen was the piece de resistance of our visit. We could design an entire room around this screen. We’re pretty sure it will get snapped up before we have a chance to use it.

This is a gorgeous 1930′s gilt tole chandelier with Amethyst drops from Italy.Everything in the store pops against the blue-ish grey walls. We couldn’t resist asking Suzanne what paint color it is. Turns out it’s Benjamin Moore Sweet Innocence which reads quite blue, and not gray at all as it’s marketed by B Moore. Just another reason to make sure you test your paint colors before you paint a room! Chocolate brown and white stripe wallpaper in the entryway and up the staircase makes a great graphic impact.

Green gilt bed frames from France:

One of the many lovely vignettes throughout the store…Privet House also has a fantastic selection of bath soaps and linens as well as other house ware accessories. Towels from Ottomania.Soaps! How great are their shopping bags made from recycled newspapers?
You can actually get a little slice of Privet House style with their capsule collection for The Shops at Target for a limited time. Head on over for some great home accessories at super low Target prices!

Their towel display is so pretty, I’ll have to check this place out next time I’m in Greenwich!

I find Benjamin Moore Pelican Gray to be the same dreamy blue-gray especially when set off with crisp white molding – I  have painted my LR/DR in our beach cottage that color and it is the perfect backdrop.  I wish I had the time to go to CT, I’d especially love some of those Turkish towels, but in the meantime may content myself with purchasing the lovely embossed white china from their Target collection as my everyday dishes at the beach house!

We’ll definitely try Pelican Gray, sounds lovely!

Nice Blog Thanks. I think home improvement helps to enhance the look of your house and electrical remodeling is an essential part of it. As the electrical fitting is the most important as well as most risky thing for house, it is always advised that any type of electrical repairs or maintenance should be done by a qualified electrician.
