We spent part of the day last Friday shopping for clients in Stamford, CT. When we go antiquing, we never know what we’ll find. It’s never a guarantee that we’ll come across the specific piece we are looking for. But sometimes we find the best pieces when we’re not looking for them, and we often snatch them up because we know that at some point we’ll find a place for them in one of our clients’ homes. This malachite desk was probably the greatest piece we came across during the day. It’s a neoclassical Russian desk from the early 20th century.
Beautiful details on the front drawers…
A great French starburst mirror. The asymmetry of this piece is fantastic.
This is a beautiful Chinese enamel tray on a painted stand from the estate of Brooke Astor. Perhaps it was acquired at her sale at Sotheby’s last month!
This would make the perfect little cocktail table for next to a living room chair.
A pair of aqua blue decoupage lamps with fishes on them made by antique art dealer Mary McGuire.
A pair of James Mont for Stiffel oriental motif lamps. The color of these lamps is so unusual, they would be a great inspiration point for any room.
A fun French wicker side table.
Vintage French slipper chair. Often when we find upholstered pieces we like at antique stores we end up reupholstering them because we don’t like the current fabric on the piece or because it’s not in good condition. The fabric on this slipper chair was quite beautiful and made us fall in love with this little chair even more.
An adorable 1900′s child’s spool chair–another upholstered piece with a great fabric on it!
1950′s Verner Panton-designed bar stools from Denmark. Love!
Have you found any great vintage pieces recently? We’d love to hear about them!
