We’re designing one of our favorite clients’ master bedroom at the moment and we’re excited to share the final design decisions with you. In terms of feeling and color palette, we were inspired by this Ruthie Sommers living room we featured on the blog a few months back. We loved the elegance of it and the splashes of pink velvet. Below are some of the fabrics we’ll be using in this room:
This bed, by Thomas O’Brien for Hickory Chair, was one of our most favorite things we saw at High Point in October. If we could have any bed in the world, it would be this one. We love how it combines both masculine and feminine elements to suit both husband and wife. We’re pairing it with two grasscloth covered cube side tables and some gorgeous gourd lamps that compliment the blue and green ikat fabric (using for pillows) beautifully.
Here’s a close up of the headboard’s shape. We’re going to be customizing the nail heads to be more of an antique brass color to compliment the pair of stools that will be going at the foot of the bed.
Another close up of its great curves…
Our client LOVES velvet (and who doesn’t) so in addition to a decorative pillow out of this super luxurious dusty rose-colored velvet, we’re also upholstering these very architectural stools in it. Pretty glam, no?
And of course, every master bedroom needs a cozy chair to cuddle up and read a good book in. We’ll be playing around with the finish on the legs of these pieces because this isn’t the right color for this room, but you’ll have to wait for the finished room to see that! They’ll be upholstered in the mini zig zag Lu Lu DK fabric you see below, right.
So now we’re looking for something fabulous to hang above the bed. Any ideas? We’re hesitant to do the whole sun burst mirror thing for fear it’s over and done with…
