Beach Vacation Style

Welcome back, everyone! It’s still freezing out, but luckily I have some warm weather to look forward to. In two weeks, I’ll be headed down to Brazil with one of my best friends, Juliana. Juliana and I met while working at Teen Vogue together almost 5 years ago. Juliana was working in the PR department and I was working as Amy Astley’s assistant. Juliana grew up in Rio where her parents still live. I got the chance to visit Brazil for the first time two years ago during New Year’s and I’ve been dying to go back ever since. What I love about Rio is that you get both city and beach all rolled into one. I haven’t pulled my summer clothes out yet to do an inventory on exactly what I’ll be bringing with me, but here are a few of the things I either own or am currently coveting and thinking seriously about purchasing. 5PIECESswim
1.  This Carla Fernandez beach bag is simple with a twist and a very reasonable price point ($165)  2. I own both of these beauty products. The Clarins Sunscreen Spray is hands down my favorite SPF for the body. It doesn’t leave you feeling sticky, gives you enough coverage, but also lets you get some color, and it smells divine. Dior Nail Vernis in Bar Riviera: I picked this polish up last summer at duty-free at Heathrow Airport. Sometimes committing to a color this strong can be tricky; I like this polish because the color is very tropical and fun, but it’s slightly sheer. 3. LemLem Dehna striped cotton-blend voile cover up. I’ve been wanting to buy this coverup/dress since it came out and I’m about to pull the trigger. I think it is so chic and love that it really does cover you up! 4. I logged some serious time at Sephora this weekend picking up a few things I’ve run out of and of course getting suckered in to buying a few new products. One of them is the Living Proof No Frizz Discovery Kit. I’ve been hearing lots of good reviews on the Living Proof products from friends so I decided to give it a whirl. While I don’t have frizzy hair under normal conditions, Rio is very humid and last time I was there I remember wishing I had brought better hair products. I tried both the shampoo and conditioner last night, and while I can’t attest to their frizz fighting benefits just yet, I loved how squeaky clean my hair felt when I got out of the shower (will let you know how my hair does when I get back) 5. I’m always on the look out for a simple, leather sandal. The Kira sandal from J Crew in beige goes with everything (the gold is really fun too for when you are going out at night and don’t feel like wearing heels). Anybody else going on a beach vacation anytime soon? What’s on your must-pack list?
