Now that we’re both back from traveling, we’re back on the hunt for great pieces for various projects that we’re working on. In fact, more often than not, we set out looking to fill a specific hole in a floor plan, and we find something extraordinary that enhances a room dramatically. We feed off each other on these trips. Our “system” is usually to divide and conquer, as most of our favorite haunts are big warehouses. When we find something we like, we call each other (thank you iPhone!), and play a guessing game to see if the other person can guess where we imagine the coveted piece might go (unless it’s obvious, but it rarely is). Pieces like this handcrafted mirror, below, are so rare that they always catch our eye. This is a piece we will keep in our photo inventory for now, and hope that we can find a place for it.
greekkeymirrorThe artisan who fabricated this piece took great care in outlining the orange Greek key detail in gold. This mirror could look fantastic in the right entryway.greekkeymirrordetailWe almost passed by this elegant pair of French Mid Century steel framed tray tables with brass escutcheons because they were covered with a dealer’s collection of glass bowls. Once we cleared them off of the top surface we fell in love. Finding a pair of elegant side tables like these is unusual. They’ll be snatched by a knowing collector soon no doubt.sidetablesHaving just returned from Florida, this Palm Tree inspired decorative mirror caught my eye. It’s crazy–in a good way.mirrorLauren found this classic Billy Baldwin-style rattan wrapped Parsons table from the 1970′s. This is such a versatile piece.consoleFinding mirrors in the perfect dimensions to hang above mantelpieces can be a challenge. They’re usually too large or too small in circumference. This one, at 31 1/2″ diameter is a nice size. We like how this starburst is a little more tribal feeling than your usual starburst mirrors. starburstmirrorIncredibly inventive brass and bronze chairs designed by celebrated Paris-based designers Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti.chairsWe thought this thickly braided rope mirror could make a fun addition to a powder room since it’ll pair easily with other art.ropemirror2In case you don’t already know, we’re big fans of the demilune table. This one is one of the more unusual pieces we’ve seen. In the right place, this could be a total show-stopper.demiluneThe combination of nickel, brass and glass make this chandelier a one of a kind. We love the mix of materials.chandelierThis vintage French bergere upholstered with Hermes fabric on the seat back and an Hermes scarf on the seat cushion is the kind of piece that makes our hunting days so interesting.hermeschair2We try and imagine who decided to upholster this Bergere in this way.
