Design Update: Abby’s Dining Room

It feels like forever ago that we were designing Abby Larson’s (founder of Style Me Pretty) house in Massachusetts. While the full reveal of the house won’t be published until the next issue of Domino magazine, there were a few sneak peeks, like her dining room below, in the first issue (photo credit: Brittany Ambridge for Domino magazine).BA_03460You may remember when we found the pedestal table, below left, for Abby at one of our favorite Antique dealers last Spring. We love round dining tables, especially in square rooms. We were drawn to the lovely grey patina and elaborate pedestal base of this table. An added bonus of this piece is that it has two leaves that can be added to turn it into a long, oval table–perfect for when Abby has company. The leaves will also come in handy if Abby ever moves into a house with a larger dining room; we’re always on the look-out for pieces that can grow with our clients, that they can bring with them from home to home for a lifetime. This dining room table is definitely one of those pieces! al1Here’s the table as we found it (it would actually also make a beautiful center hall table with a collection of blue and white ginger jars). garden1A close up detail of the pale blue painted ring around the outer edge of the table. table2Here’s what the table looks like with all of its leaves in place. tableextendedRemember when we asked your opinion on which chairs looked best with the table? We ended up going with this style, but finding a more affordable, reproduction of Antique Swedish ones below. sw1We used a natural linen fabric for the window treatments in the dining room to keep things casual and not too dressy. treatmentLooking forward to sharing the rest of the house with you in the next issue of Domino!

Can’t wait to see the full reveal! You guys have a great eye. It’s a beautiful table but it looks very different in the store vs in the magazine. You spotted potential that many probably couldn’t see.

    As always, beautiful!

Thank you, Jackie! That is such a nice compliment.

Please share the source of the chairs, if you can! With a need for 10 new chairs – an “affordable” source would be wonderful! Can’t wait to see the full reveal in the next Domino!

This is stunning. I love the yellow chairs — adds just enough whimsy to the space. What is the beautiful pale grey paint color?

It’s Farrow and Ball Stony Ground

I love teh timeless beauty this type of Antique Dining
    Table
offers. The room looks amazing. I just bought one of these antique tables from Mecox. They had so many to choose from and they were all really lovely and well made.
