mirror, mirror—accesorizing a vanity

Published on Jan 13th, 2009 by goodbone

It’s every girl’s dream to have a “vanity” table in her bedroom. Though most of us are so rushed in the morning we end up putting our make-up on while sitting on the train or in traffic, it is so luxurious (and relatively easy) to create a space like this to sit at and indulge your femininity while getting dressed to go out. During a recent consignment store hunt, I found these beautiful antique glass and silver vessels in interesting shapes and sizes. We filled them with the requisite q-tips, cotton balls and brushes and voila— instant luxury! I used a pretty transfer-ware vegetable dish ($20.00 at a tag sale) to serve as a place to rest your watch and other everyday accessories. The venetian mirror took the scene to a whole new level; Lauren found it hiding in the back dressing room at Anthropology. With a barely noticeable chip on its border it was marked down to very reasonable $100…ours for the taking. -S
